The Ultimate Guide to Hernias!
While hernias are a common condition that may not be life-threatening, most hernias don’t heal on their own and tend to worsen over time. In most cases, surgery is the safest solution.
We remain committed to providing our patients with innovative, safe alternatives to surgery. However, there are times when surgery is warranted. In cases such as these, our board-certified surgeons are prepared to perform conventional surgery and provide each patient with the compassionate, high-quality, personalized care they deserve.
At The Surgery Group, we understand that no two patients are the same and recognize their unique situation. It is for this reason, especially that we take the time to educate patients on their options and work with them in finding a treatment plan that works best for them.

What Is A Hernia?
A hernia occurs when an organ or tissue pushes through a weakened part of a muscular or integumentary wall ordinarily holding the organ in place or serving as its most immediate border. One common example of this is when the intestines push past the abdominal wall, thus creating a palpable bulge.
The types of hernias include:
- Inguinal Hernia
- Hiatal Hernia
- Umbilical Hernia
- Incisional Hernia
Hernias are usually caused by four main things: muscular wall weakness, disease, injury and/or physical strain. They can develop over a long period (a little at a time) or very suddenly/quickly, usually as a result of one several factors.
